Yes, it's Officially Confirmed: the PS3 has taken a diet pill and slimmed down a few sizes to look more appealing, but the biggest question is....Will Sony's new compact version of the ps3 hack it?
SO FAR - we think not....
The backwards compatibility is unstable and due to sony's recent cutbacks there is a letter floating around about the reason from sony. Reguardless though there are several diehard sonyfans out there who could care less about this feature but on the otherhand those that play a newer game in a series from older games like myself would not be pleased as I am either because I like to go back and play older games on occasion.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have a excerpted copy from sony:
- SCEA's director of marketing John Koller -
"Now that we're at a point where we're three years into the lifecycle of the PS3," he said,
"there are so many PS3 disc-based games that are available that we
think — and noticed this from our research — that most consumers that
are purchasing the PS3 cite PS3 games as a primary [reason]".
"And it's not just like 50 or 60 percent. It's well into the 80 or
90 percentile range who are purchasing it for PS3 [games]. We do know
that there are next gen consumers wanting to come over the the PS3.
Most of those are consumers who have not utilized their PS2 for a
little while and they're ready to jump into the PlayStation 3." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The PlayStation3 Slim comes with 120GB, you get FREE PlayStation®Network
membership, 4 usb ports, a built-in Wi-Fi along with the usual 3.0 firmware and normal specs carried over from the original. Sorry no, new addons since the last version.
What a huge dissappointment this was and is bound to collect dust on most gamer's dressors and tv stands and nope it won't replace your girlfriend just yet either.
